Purpose and scope of the position:

The Commercial Manager will primarily be responsible for the follow-up of commercial leads and tendering for opportunities to provide our services during the economic lifecycle (installation, maintenance and decommissioning)  of offshore windfarms. The job holder is also responsible for developing and maintaining client relations in order to make a contribution to the further strengthening of our already existing client-base.

Reports to: Managing Director

Qualifications, requirements and desired characteristics:

  • Commercial management experience in a technical sales position, preferably 3 to 5 years in the offshore wind farm industry and with a subsea (diving, survey, ROV) perspective,
  • Familiar with relevant offshore safety procedures and regulations,
  • Strong communication skills, fluent (verbally & written) in English and Dutch,
  • Ability to successfully interact with and influence diverse groups to consistently meet business and customer service level expectations,
  • Demonstrable experience of successful cooperation in small project teams,
  • Financially astute with commercial, contractual & negotiation skills/talent,
  • Hands-on mentality and self-starter, taking ownership/initiatives,
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with strong interest in technical/engineering side or a similar educational background from an accredited college or university.

Main responsibilities:

In the role of Commercial Manager, you will:

  • Sourcing of, first line of response to and follow up of commercial leads,
  • Preparing and submission of tenders, further to obtaining internal advice and input on technical, operational and legal matters,
  • Issue clarifications and distribute any responses in a timely and efficient manner,
  • Assisting/supporting with contractual negotiations, including those with sub-contractors,
  • Visiting (potential) clients, suppliers, subcontractors and partners,
  • Reporting to and advising Managing Director/commercial department on a regular basis about opportunities and market intelligence/developments,
  • Scheduling of and chairing commercial risk review meetings to gain Manager Director approvals where necessary (Prospect, Pre-tender, Bid to win, Contract),
  • Interface with the functional teams to develop commercial and operational solutions that will meet customer requirements as well as meet and exceed business goals,
  • Drive development and maintenance of cost models, with particular emphasis on standardization, efficiency and digitization in order to drive productivity and consistency as well as increase win rates,
  • Follow market trends, customer requirements and competitor actions.
